Imelda Portillo, 46, of Slaton, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
A Rosary Service will be at 6:00 pm Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Englunds Chapel in Slaton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Imelda was born May 13, 1977, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Ramon and Cleotilde Portillo. She graduated from Slaton High School in 1997, receiving various scholarship offers in fashion design and received a letter of recommendation from both President George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Imelda married Victor Armenta on January 4, 1999, in Lubbock.
She was an awesome baker and loved to sing. She was known as “Mom” to many and kindly took care of people whenever and however she could.
She is survived by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Gabriella Armenta of Slaton; her son, Jaime Armenta of Lubbock; her sisters, Diana Portillo of Slaton and Norma Portillo and her husband, Tony of Slaton; her brothers, Ramon Portillo of Lubbock, Salvador Portillo of Denver, Jose Portillo and his wife, Lorena of Lubbock, Amado Portillo and his wife, Dolores of Lubbock and Jesus Portillo of Mexico; her mother-in-law, Mary Armenta; several nieces and nephews; and her cats Tiny and Nacho.
