Delphine Ida Viola Maxey, age 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 26, 2019, at her home at the Enclave Assisted Living Facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
Delphine was born November 3, 1923 in Ramona, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm in Illinois.
She married Edward Bruce Maxey in Tucumcari, New Mexico on May 9, 1953, and they have enjoyed 57 years of friendship, adventures, and love.
Delphine completed 30 years of Federal Service for the Department of the Air Force. She retired from Eielson AFB, Alaska on March 28, 1980. Her position was the Civilian Personnel Supervisor.
Delphine and Edward Bruce lived 24 years in Slaton, Texas after retirement. They later moved to Safford, Arizona to live near Carol.
Over the course of her life, Delphine belonged to a number of organizations. A few of these were Eastern Star, Toastmasters, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Business and Professional Women, Methodist Women, and Wally Byam Airstream Travel Club.
Delphine was preceded in death by her parents (Frederick and Anna Ewald), her husband (Edward Bruce Maxey), a sister (Vernell Cockerel), son-in-law (Robert Marr), a grand-daughter (Karen Jones) and a niece (Jackie Cockerel).
She is survived by two daughters: Carol Ann Jones (Douglas Sr.) and Annette Marr. She had five grandchildren: Laura Jones, Douglas Jones Jr. (Sonja), David Marr (Amanda), Annalisa Jones, Zeth Jones, and eight great grandchildren: Nick Daniels, Maegan Palmer (Brian), Spencer Daniels, Erica Daniels, Kyndall Jones, Zane Jones, Gabriel Marr, and Jacob Marr. She had a niece and nephew: Timothy Cockerel (Marie) and Janet Sue Cockerel.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday October 5, 2019 at Slaton cemetery. Burial is under the direction of Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary in Phoenix, Arizona and Englunds Funeral Home in Slaton, Texas.
