Gertrude Thomas

Gertrude Thomas, 87, of Canyon, formerly of Slaton, passed away October 10, 2019.

Visitation will be 4:00-5:00 pm Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Englunds. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, October 14, 2019 at Englunds Chapel.  Interment will be in Terrace Cemetery in Post. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Gertrude was born December 21, 1931 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Oscar and Wilhelmina Neugebauer.   She married Oscar Thomas in February of 1956 and they lived in the community of Gordon until his passing in 1983.  She moved to Slaton where she lived until moving to Amarillo two years ago. She enjoyed working outside and loved spending time with her grandkids, and especially with her great-grandson.  She also loved her Dairy Queen tacos.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Alvin “Bud” Neugebauer.

Gertrude is survived by her sons, Randy Thomas and wife, Minnie of Canyon and Ronnie Thomas of Canyon; sister, Arla Mae Schwertner of Big Lake; her brother, Weldon Neugebauer of Slaton; three grandchildren, Alexia Thomas, James Oscar Thomas, William Thomas; and one great grandchild, Jaiden Thomas.
