John Thornbury Obituary

John Thomas Thornbury, 83 of Slaton, Texas went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. John was born Wednesday, October 4, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa. He married Shirley Wilkerson, January 28, 1956 in Dallas and remained married for 61 years. John graduated Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture and worked over 35 years in management and sales at the John Deere Dealership in Slaton, TX. John also worked for TDCJ for over ten years and then served as a volunteer Chaplain for over 10 years. He was a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock, Loved his Lord, his wife and family with all of his heart. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Thornbury, son, John Mark Thornbury of Slaton, daughter, Susan Kathleen McCutchan, brothers, James Ralph & Sarah Thornbury and Daniel Paul & CaronThornbury all of Lubbock, a sister, Mary Jane Hart and husband Joe W. of Longview Tx. Services are 2 PM Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Englunds Funeral Chapel in Slaton, TX, Interment will be at the Englewood Cemetery in Slaton following the service.
