Adelina “Lena” Ruiz, 85, of Plano, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Viewing will be 11:00-6:00 Friday, November 4, 2022 at Englunds followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm.  Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.  

Lena was born September 25, 1937 in Yorktown, Texas to Tiburcio and Carlota Garza. Her family moved to the Lubbock in the early 1950s, eventually settling in Slaton. In 1973 she married Pedro Ruiz at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. In 1981 she moved to Odessa where she worked as a librarian at St. Mary’s Catholic School and retired in the 90s, moving to Weatherford to be near family in 2004. She moved to Plano to live with her daughter in 2020.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Butch Garza. 

Lena is survived by her daughter, Dori Ruiz of Plano; and her sister, Janie Crutcher and her husband, Marshall of Springtown.
