Alvin Richard Cheney, 96, of Slaton passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Slaton.  He was born June 25, 1929 in Trent, Texas.

Graveside services will be Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Englewood Cemetery with the Rev. Darren Weaver officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

He was born June 25, 1929 in Trent, Texas.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was ammo handler and gunner.  He was also a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and was a member of the Baptist Church. He had lived in Slaton and Lubbock County for 60 years and was a heavy equipment operator and trainer for the road department in Lubbock County. 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Luellen Roberts and a son, Emmett Allen Cheney.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Morriss of Llano, Texas, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
