Angelita “Angela” Vasquez, 76, of Slaton, passed away on March 13, 2026.

Viewing will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Englunds Chapel, followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Angela was born on October 10, 1949 in Big Spring to Trino and Margarita Guerra. She and her family moved to Slaton when she was child. She met Modesto Vasquez in 1966, and they were married on February 22, 1966.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage last month.

She was a wonderful homemaker and loved to cook tamales and menudo and welcomed people into their home with open arms. She also loved to dance, and sing, and take care of her plants. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Julian Vasquez; her sisters, Herminia Garcia and Elida Sanchez; and her brothers, Felix and Benny Guerra.

Angela is survived by her husband, Modesto Vasquez; her daughter, Linda Vasquez of Slaton; her sister, Mary Velasquez and her husband, Jesse of Slaton, her brother, Rudy Guerra of San Angelo; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
