Angelita Vasquez

Angelita Vasquez, 77, of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023

Viewing will be 11:00-6:00 pm Friday, April 14, 2023 at Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Englunds Chapel in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, Texas.

Angelita was born July 6, 1945 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Ignacio and Apolonia Gonzalez. Amador Vasquez first saw Angelita at age 14 when she was living in Brownsville. They crossed paths again two years later in Slaton and when she turned 17, they were married on January 26, 1963. Angelita never threw anything away, keeping greeting cards and pictures. However, she was a very organized saver. She was a wonderful cook and known for her enchilada casserole.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Angelica Maria Vasquez and her grandsons Felipe Marcelo Madrid and Andres Medina Madrid.

Angelita is survived by her daughters, Margarita Toombs of Carlsbad, Leticia Meza and her husband, Miguel of Lubbock and Ernestina Rodriquez and her husband, Vicente of Lubbock; her sons, Amador Jr. and his wife, Irma of Lubbock and Ignacio and his wife, Debbie of Lubbock; her sisters, Patricia Bela, Gloria Gonzalez, Irma Valdez, Florinda Alvarado, Elida Martinez, Rosa Martinez, Mary Rodriquez and Elvia Vela; her brothers, Roman, Juan, Isaac, Abel and Arnulfo Gonzalez; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
