Ann Haynes Obituary

Ann Haynes was born March 27th, 1938, to Lee Murphy Shockley and Myrtle Wilder Parker, in Lubbock, Texas. She passed away peacefully December 1st, 2025, at the age of 87.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Englunds Chapel.  Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

A proud and competitive athlete, Ann became an All-State basketball player for New Home High School, earning several awards during her time there. That same determination carried her through life and fueled her drive to excel in everything that came her way. She and her husband Doug ran Bernard’s Convenience Store together for 27 years, becoming a staple in their community. Whether she was serving customers, caring for family, or supporting residents at a local retirement home, she shared her gift of service generously. She took hosting to a new level, with over the top decorations, bling, and in-character attire - creating unique and fun parties for all to enjoy. Staying up to date on the highest fashion styles, she loved coordinating outstanding outfits, with all the accessories.

Reflective of her outgoing personality, her favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas - full of lights, sounds, and sequins. Short of that, she also loved fishing. Doug always said she caught more fish because he stayed busy baiting her hook! She endured many frozen evenings at Jones Stadium, cheering on her Red Raiders with dear friends and family, loyal to the last second of every game. More recently, she was able to spend many years with her great-granddaughter, playing catch at the table, and drawing pictures together during visits.

Ann was preceded in death by her Parents, and Husband, Doug.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra and husband, Greg, granddaughter, Jenni and husband, Levi, and great-granddaughter, Ledgin.
