Anna Margaret Meschwitz, 91, of Slaton, passed away on April 8, 2026.

A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Anna was born on September 30, 1934 in Houston to John D. Dortch, Sr. and Anna Barbara Borski. She worked for nearly 40 years for Paul Reinhart, Ltd. Cotton Brokers. She moved to Lubbock in 2008. Anna was a devout catholic and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She supported Carol in rescuing animals and loved each one of them. Anna’s best friend of over 75 years, Juanita Cernosek, passed away recently and now they can enjoy polka dancing again together. She had a great sense of humor, loved word search puzzles, and watching crime shows.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Meschwitz, Sr., and her brothers, John D. Dortch, Jr. and Frank T. Dortch.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Carol Meschwitz of Slaton, and Barbara Jean Vaglienti and Michael Brinkley of Llano; her son, Joseph Meschwitz. Jr. and his wife, Debi of Brenham; and her grandchildren, Kalyn Meschwitz-Shimek and her husband, Paul and Jonathan Meschwitz.

The family suggest memorials be made to a favorite charity.
