Annie Kenney, 90, of Slaton, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Viewing will be 10:00 am-5:00 pm Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Englunds. Visitation will be 12:00 pm-2:00 pm Friday, June 30, 2023 at Englunds followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 pm at Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Annie was born September 29, 1932 in Loop to the late Elizabeth Belle and Noah Powell Tate. She graduated from Loop High School and went on to get her Bachelors & Masters degrees at Texas Tech. She taught 3rd grade in Kermit and later taught for 28 years in Slaton before retiring in 1989. Annie was an active member of First Baptist Church of Slaton and taught 1st and 2nd graders Sunday School. She loved gardening, especially her wildflowers, birdwatching, quilting, sewing, cooking, fishing, reading, and genealogy. Whatever she chose to pursue, she gave it her all and excelled in it. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Library of Legacy for the love and care she received while in their care.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver Wayne Kenney, her sisters, Grace Cravens and Hazel Branscum; and her brothers, Arthur and Dale Tate.
Annie is survived her daughters, Dianne (Stanley) Ebeling of Lubbock and Suzanne (Ray) Altman of Slaton; her son, Mike (Alexis) Kenney of Slaton; her grandchildren, Leah (Nate) Baker, Adam Altman, Noah (Lin) Altman, Megan (Andrew) Harrell, Sarah (Matt) Gudino and Krysa (Justin) Villegas: and her great grandchildren, Isaac, Jonah, Brooklyn, Owen, Natalie, Phoenix, Daniel and Kinsler.
