Antonio Villarreal passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 81 at his home in Wilson, TX.
Services to honor Antonio's life will be held at Englund's Funeral Home 1400 W Woodrow Rd, Slaton, on Friday, September 20, 2024. A visitation will take place at 9:30 am, followed by the service at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Green Memorial Park in Wilson. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Born on September 2, 1943, Antonio dedicated more than 45 years as a farmhand in the Wilson community, a testament to his hard work and commitment to his roots.
Antonio was a beacon of wisdom and strength, known for his advocacy for change, particularly within the Hispanic community. He tirelessly fought against disparity, striving to advance his family and heritage. Although he was never able to serve in the military, Antonio held deep respect and admiration for those who did, often expressing honor in their presence.
Family was the center of Antonio's world. He was a passionate and adoptive father figure to many, always ready to offer support and guidance. His presence was a comforting constant to those in his life, often being the person on the other end of the phone when wisdom and support were needed.
Antonio recently renewed his worship at The Refuge, where he found spiritual solace and community. His life was a living example of dedication to family and community, embodying the values he cherished.
Antonio was preceded in death by his spouse, Consuelo Villarreal, his grandson, Coby Villarreal and siblings Demetria, Sandra, Norma, Juanita, Jessica, Consuelo, Urbana, Maria, Martin and Joe.
He is survived by his children, Anthony Villarreal, Ruben & Alice Villarreal, Katherin & John Youniacutt, and Michael & Peggy Villarreal; grandchildren Anastasia Sanders, Danielle Chance, Seth Villarreal, Alyssa Villarreal, Anakin Villarreal, and Esme Williamson; and great-grandchildren Jocelyn Smith, Rowan Sanders, Everleigh Sanders, Charleigh Chance, Spencer Chance, and Maddox Chance. He also leaves behind his siblings, Benjamin Villarreal and Delia Villarreal.
