Archie Doyle Clanton, 87, of Lubbock, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021.
The Family will have a visitation Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 6 to 7:30 PM. Services will be on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 2 PM in Englunds Chapel. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service.
Archie was born March 20, 1934, in Snyder to Burl and Zula Clanton, they lived in Polar Texas. He traveled across West Texas with his family Cotton farming and graduating from Cotton Center High School in 1952. Archie graduated from Texas Tech University in 1956 with a degree in Geology. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Army, serving until 1958. He returned to Texas Tech and earned a teaching certification and started his teaching career at Roosevelt ISD in 1962, teaching Science and later attained a Masters in Administration, retiring after forty -two years as assistant superintendent in 2004.
Archie married Bobbie Taylor on October 5th, 1962, she preceded him in death on June 30th, 1982. On May 23, 1985, Archie married Charlotte Parker. She preceded him in death on January 6th, 2019.
He enjoyed gardening and telling a good story. Archie was able to maintain his independent living the last three years.
Archie is survived by his daughter, Tracy and her husband Kyle Smith of Lubbock.
