Ascension Jesus “A. J.” Garcia, 28, of Slaton, passed away on March 11, 2026.

Viewing will be from 2:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Englunds Chapel, followed by Rosary Service at 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Englunds Chapel. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

A. J. was born on June 19, 1997 in Lubbock to Steve Trevino and Virginia Paez. He played football for Slaton high school and studied woodworking.  He graduated in 2016. A. J. enjoyed going to Comic Conventions, watching movies and playing video games.  He loved traveling and loved to cook and bake.

He is preceded in death by his father and is grandmother “Tita” Felipe Garcia.

A. J. is survived by his mother, Virginia Paez of Slaton; his sister, Krystal Alvarado of Lubbock; his grandfather “Tito” Ascension Garcia of Slaton; his aunt and uncle, Bea and Charlie Mata; his uncles and aunts, Albert and Fran Garcia and Tim and Norma Trevino; his nieces, Jazmyn and Jaylee Alvarado; his nephew, Joel Alvarado; and his cousins.
