Aurora Varela, 73, of Slaton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022.

Viewing will be 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Englunds. Rosary will follow at 6:00 pm at Englunds Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am Friday, July 8, 2022 at Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service.

Aurora was born September 14, 1948 in Tarajero, Mexico to Pedro Caballero and Catalina Cruz. She married Javier Varela August 12, 1972 in Mexico. They moved to Posey in 1979 when Javier started working at Posey Gin. Aurora worked at Pedros Tamales for 33 years, working right up until the time she got sick. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and barbecuing with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, two sisters; and one brother.

Aurora is survived by her daughters, Annabell Flores and her husband, Robert of Slaton and Alma Varela and her husband, Jesse Gonzales of Lubbock; her sons, Javier Varela Jr. and his wife, Veronica of Slaton and Alfredo Varela of Slaton; her sister, Zendia of Mexico; her brother, Nando Caballero of Mexico; and 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
