Barbara Ann Slone, 81, of Selma, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Englunds, followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00 am at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Services of Slaton.

Barbara was born August 15, 1943 in Crosby County, Tx at her granddads house. She lived in Lubbock, Texas during her early years, and graduated from Monterey High School. It was there that she met James Maxie Slone. She was 13 years old at the time, and they met at church. They married in January 1961. They had been married for 64 years at the time of her passing. The family moved to Amarillo in the late 1960’s and called it home for many years. Barbara retired from Amarillo Independent School District, where she was employed as a nurse’s aide, and school secretary. She enjoyed her job, especially the time off every summer, giving the family time to travel.

She is survived by her husband of many years, Maxie Slone, 2 daughters, Cindy Slone, and Kala Thorpe (partner Steven Ragan); her 3 grandchildren, Richard Brandon Thorpe (wife Jackie Thorpe), Sara Thorpe, and Zachary Thorpe (girlfriend Meagan Robbins), one great grandchild, Zendaya Thorpe, and her brother, Ken White and his family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Raldo B. White and Elma Ray Hogg, brother Richard White, and nephew Shawn White.
