Our dear mother and grandmother, Betty Lou Alexander, 93, of Slaton, passed away on July 31, 2025.


Memorial Services will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Englunds Chapel. A private family burial will take place prior to the Memorial Service. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.


Betty was born on October 17,1931 in Olton, Texas to John and Tommie Edwards. She grew up in Olton where her family farmed.  She married Hugh Alexander, Jr. on August 6,1951 in Austin while he was in the Air Force. When he was discharged, they lived in Olton farming in the area until they moved to Slaton in the1970’s. Soon after, she went to work at Stephen F. Austin Middle School for many years.  Betty then went to work at the Slaton Independent School District office and retired after nearly 50 years with the school district at the age of 90! Betty loved fishing, playing cards, dominoes and spending time with her family.


She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Herman Edwards.


Betty is survived by her sons, Hugh Alexander, III his wife, Anne of Park City, Utah, and Kevin Alexander of Fort Worth, Texas and has five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
