Billie Nadine (Walters) Gamble of Slaton passed away on Monday, November 17th, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on October 10th, 1930, in Posey, Texas, to Fred and Cordie Walters. Billie was raised in the Slaton community, where she completed her education and remained employed until early 1953. That same year, she met and married the love of her life, George Samuel Gamble, on June 5th. Together, on their family farm west of Slaton, they were blessed with three children: Dale, Randell, and Marilyn.

Bille grew up a farmer’s daughter and then lived and worked on the Gamble family farm with George all their married years. She was a great farmer’s wife and loved seeing the crops harvested each year.

Following in the footsteps of her parents, Billie was a devoted charter member of Westview Baptist Church. She faithfully served in numerous capacities and found great joy in singing in the church choir. Billie loved the Lord!

In 1970, Billie began her long and fulfilling career with the Lubbock-Cooper School District. Over the course of 31 years, she made lasting friendships and served in a variety of roles, mentoring countless students with patience, dedication, and compassion. After retiring in 2000, she happily devoted her time to her family and cherished loved ones. Billie possessed a natural gift for gardening and cooking, and she took great pride in preparing generous meals for those around her. Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings were especially meaningful, bringing her immense joy as she prepared feasts for her growing family.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her son, Randell Gamble; her sister, Ruth Lester; and her brothers, Dwayne and Ray Walters. 

She is survived by her son, Dale Gamble, and his wife, Becky, of Lubbock; her daughter, Marilyn, and her husband, Ernie, of San Marcos; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and faith will continue through each of them.

Viewing will be held from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21st, 2025, at Englunds Chapel. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at Westview Baptist Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Services of Slaton.
