Bobby Joe Harlan, 77, of Slaton, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Memorial Services will be at 10:30 am Monday, September 16, 2024, at Slaton Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Bobby Joe was born on July 18, 1947, in Slaton to George and Bernice Harlan. He graduated from Slaton High School. He attended and was a member of the rodeo team at San Angelo State University. Bobby Joe married Elizabeth Mosty on November 15, 1969, in Kerrville and they made their home in Slaton. He was a farmer and raised greyhounds, racing them all over the United States. Bobby Joe loved to watch his granddaughters play sports, travel, and play dominoes. You would often find him enjoying coffee with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bobby Joe is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Slaton; his daughter, Jessica Payne and her husband, Chip of Lubbock; his son, Kirk Harlan of Lubbock; his brother, Jerry Harlan and his wife, Nancy of Slaton; his granddaughters, Julia Payne of Dallas and Emily Payne of Lubbock; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The family suggest memorials be made to Slaton Methodist Church or Library of Legacies in Slaton.
