Bruce Schafer

Bruce Schafer, 72, of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023.

Viewing will be 11-6 Tuesday July 11, 2023 followed by a visitation at 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Englunds.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2221 Ave. W, in Lubbock.  Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Bruce was born on June 22, 1951 in Saint Paul, MN to Wallace and Mildred Schafer. He was baptized on July 22, 1951.  He was confirmed in his faith on June 6, 1965 at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Mounds View, MN. His family moved to the Wilson area and he graduated from Wilson High School in 1969.  In 1971, he married Corlis Moerbe and they had 2 children, Elizabeth and Paul. Then in 1988, he married Beverly Rodgers and they had one child, Rebecca. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bruce served as a postal carrier  for 37 years with the U. S. Postal Service. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, model trains, and working in his yard. However, what he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, J. J.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Beverly.

Bruce is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Trumble and her husband, Jeff of Lubbock, and Rebecca Weeden and her husband, Leroy of Clovis, NM; his son, Paul Schafer and his wife, Brooke of Justin; his dearest friend, Corlis Norman of Lubbock; and his grandchildren, Adalyn, Brynlee, Christopher, Leroy III, and Brandon.
