Carl Meeks, 80, of Slaton was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Englunds Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Carl was born on July 29, 1942 in Slaton, TX, to Alton and Helen Meeks. He attended Slaton schools and was a graduate of Slaton High School. Carl was a member of First Christian Church and an Army Veteran. Carl married the love of his life Rebecca “Becky” Meeks in Slaton on January 9, 1965 in Slaton where they raised 3 children, Kyle, Scott, and Kim. Carl was an avid camper and the family took many trips to New Mexico every summer, where they enjoyed camping and fishing for trout in the mountains. Carl joined the Army and was sent to Germany during his time in the Military. Carl was very proud of his time in the Service, spoke frequently about Germany, and always attempted to teach his children how to order a beer in German. Carl worked for Methodist Hospital (Covenant Medical Center) in Lubbock for over 30 years in environmental services and was had to ability to repair just about anything around the house. Carl also had a deep affinity for farming cotton and always said “If I had a million dollars...I’d farm till it was all gone”. Carl will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Carl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rebecca “Becky” Meeks of Slaton; Kyle Meeks of Decatur, Scott and Robbie Meeks of Valley View, TX, Kimberly and Joe Bryant of Chattanooga, TN; his sister, Margaret Sehon of Wolforth, TX; grandchildren, Caroline and Liam Bryant of Chattanooga, TN, and MaKynna “Mak” Meeks of Valley View, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Meeks; his mother Helen Meeks of Slaton; and brother-in-law, Frank Sehon of Wolforth.
