Carlene Green, 72, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Carlene was born on November 24, 1953 in Slaton to Joseph Carl and Toleeta Alline Loke. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Slaton High School in 1971.  She worked in the Special Education department for a while before going to work at the Slaton Independent School District, where she served for 25 years.  She then completed her career in the education field working another 10 years at The Education Service Center, Region 17, in Lubbock. She loved to sew, read, and go on cruises.


She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Alvis Joe Loke.


She is survived by her daughter, Carla Tarpley and her husband, Clay of Granbury; her son, Billy Green and his wife, Gayla of Slaton; her sisters, Jan Hoots and her husband, Eddie of Slaton and Teresa Hendrix and her husband, Travis of Phoenix, AZ.; her grandchildren, Scotlyn Tarpley, Britney Tarpley and Bryson Tarpley, Ashlee and Ali Green, Kayla Martin, and Beau Attebury; six great-grandchildren; and her special friend of many years, Barbara Fowler.
