Carolina Ariaz Hernandez, 90, of Slaton, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2022.
Viewing will be 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Englunds. Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm, Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Englunds Chapel. Mass Services will be at 10:30 am Monday, June 20, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Carolina was born on January 19, 1932 in Big Spring, TX to Juan and Paubla (Abenseraje) Ariaz and they moved to Slaton when she was a child. Carolina married the love of her life, Manuel T. Hernandez on April 26, 1951 in Slaton. They shared 56 years together before his passing in 2007. She was a member of the Cursillistas with the Diocese of Lubbock. She was also a member of the Guadalupanas of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Slaton. Carolina was the first woman Lector of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Slaton. She was proud of having won the honor of Reina de las Fiestas Patrias of 1947. Carolina was known all her life as a very stylish, elegant and sophisticated woman. She was an Avon Lady for nearly 40 years and was an awarded member of the Avon President’s Club.
Carolina was a devout Roman Catholic who served her Lord faithfully. She was a strong woman who devoted her life to raising her family and serving others. She was a people person who loved everything about life - especially the outdoors. Her family will cherish the memory of her quick wit and fun sense of humor.
Carolina was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel; her son, Manuel Hernandez, Jr.; 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy and husband Erasmo Salazar of Lubbock, and Susana and husband Ismael Garcia of Brownfield; 5 sons, Alex J. and wife Martha Hernandez of Coppell, TX, Lorenzo and wife Liz Hernandez of Slaton, Chris and wife Diane Hernandez of Slaton, Tony Hernandez of Lubbock, and Johnny Hernandez and Angie Salinas of Saginaw, TX; 2 brothers, Raymond Ariaz and Vincent Ariaz; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
