                                              Celestino Hinijosa Rodriguez

Celestino Hinijosa Rodriguez, 79, of Slaton, passed away Thursday August 15th, 2019.
Rosary will be said 6:30 pm Monday, August 19, 2019 at Englunds Chapel, with Deacon Phillip Maldonado officiating. Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Jacob Puthumbaril officiating in Slaton. Services directed by Englunds.

Celestino was born April 6, 1940 in Waelder, Texas to Victor and Domitila (Hinijosa) Rodriguez.  He moved with his family to Slaton in the early 1940’s. Celestino went to work for Ralph E. Jaynes Sand and Gravel at the age of 15 and changed careers at 45 driving Trucks for Vega Trucking and later Pinion Trucking retiring recently in July. He married Cruz Aguirre on October 13, 1956 in Slaton.  She preceded Celestino in death in September of 2018, and a son Ernie in 2007. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton.

Celestino is survived by his son, Rick Rodriguez and wife, Mary; his daughters, Norma Rodriguez Wallace and husband, Clayton, and Patricia Rodriguez Perez, and  husband, Bobby, all of Slaton; brother Frank Rodriguez, three sisters, Maria Gonzales, Pauline Perales, all of Slaton and Aurora Sausedo of Wichita, KS, along with fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and thirty-six great-great-grandchildren.
