Cleofas Anaya, 75, of Lubbock, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Viewing and visitation will be from 9:30am-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Englunds Chapel followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. at Englunds Chapel in Slaton. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Southland. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Cleofas was born on September 20, 1947, in Juan Benevides, Chihuahua, Mexico to Teodoro and Dorothea Anaya. At a young age he moved to Southland and began farming and ranching, which is what he did most of his life. He was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Templo Baptista in Slaton. His favorite past times were to read the bible and make violins. He also loved his “chupis”, his animals, and spending time with his grandchildren and making them laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters; and his grandson, Gabriel Portillo.
Cleofas is survived by his daughters, Reyes Anaya of Lubbock, Dora Quirino and her husband, Rene of Altus, OK, Janie Anaya and her husband, Fernando Flores of Lubbock and Jessica Govea of Lubbock; his sons, Andres Anaya, Eliberto Anaya, and Jaime Anaya, all of Slaton; fourteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
