Curtis Bishop Obituary

After a four-month battle with Covid-19, Curtis Bishop went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the age of 69 years old. A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 30, 2021 at Englunds Chapel in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service.

Curtis was born in Abilene, Texas, to Jack and Audrey Bishop. He was raised on a family cotton farm. He attended Wilson Independent School District from elementary through high school. After graduating, he attended South Plains College and West Texas University in Canyon, Texas.

Curtis married Sharon K. Seeley of Durango, Colorado, on December 22, 1973, in Plainview, Texas. Together they have two children, Connie and Chad. Curtis worked for J.I. Case Tractor Company for 16 years where he worked his way up the corporate ladder. He then worked for Kubota Tractor for 30 years, until his retirement in 2017.

Curtis attended Calvary Chapel Saving Grace in Yorba Linda, California for 20 years. When he moved to Tucson, he attended Calvary Chapel Tucson, Arizona. Curtis loved to serve the church and be a helper wherever he could. He, along with others, started the BBQ ministry at Calvary Chapel Saving Grace. The BBQ ministry created an environment of fellowship and family within the body of Christ every Sunday.

Curtis interests included spending time with his grandkids, flying model airplanes (to which he was a Vice President of his RC club in Tucson, Arizona), motorcycling, RV camping, and hunting.

Curtis is survived by his wife Sharon of Tucson, Arizona; his daughter Connie Stevens (Michael) of Trabuco Canyon, California; son Chad Bishop (Janiene) of Garden Grove, California; and son by a previous marriage Johnny Bishop of Lubbock, Texas. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Bishop of Wilson, Texas; brother Darrell Bishop (Cathy) of Keller, Texas; and brother Tony Bishop (D’Anne) of Wilson, Texas. He also has a large extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Audrey, and his eldest brother Jackie Bishop.
