A Family led Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Wilson. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Cindy was born April 16, 1966, to Donald and Carolyn (Luker) Klaus in Lubbock, TX.    She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wilson having been baptized on May 8, 1966, and confirmed on September 26, 1982.  She was a lifelong resident of Wilson, TX, where she attended Wilson Elementary School and later Ballenger School in Lubbock, graduating in 1984.

As a youngster, she was blessed to attend the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX. She also participated in a variety of events in Special Olympics including track and field and basketball, even competing in the State Track & Field Meet in Austin. Following a variety of living situations, Cindy proudly moved into her own home in 1995.  She worked for Marian Moss Enterprises for 23 years, retiring in 2007.  Upon her retirement she filled her days making coasters and calling friends and family.  Cindy loved and cared about everyone she knew.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Donald Klaus, and her niece, Kyia Mendez.  Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Carolyn of Wilson; her sisters, Tonda Freitag of Tahoka and Melissa Mendez (Danny) of Wilson; and “adopted” brother, Leroy Gus Michaelis (Sylvia) of Kermit.  She also leaves behind seven nieces and nephews:  Joshua (Alesha) Freitag of Lamesa; Benjamin Freitag of Tahoka; Sarah (Justin) Fuhrman of Lubbock; Alaura (Jordan) Mendez Guzman of Wilson; and Zackk, Bryan, and Justin Mendez of Wilson, and “adopted” nephews and their families, Michael and Tim Michaelis.  “Dooder,” as she was affectionately known, will also be missed by ten great nieces and nephews:  Luke, Jacob, Ruthie, and Michael Freitag; Claire and David Fuhrman; Analiyah, Easton, Myles and Kash Guzman; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, her church family, and countless friends and neighbors.
