David Chavarria, 66, passed away on October 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication.

Viewing and visitation will be 6:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Englunds Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

David was born in Levelland, TX on July 10, 1958, to Jose and Margarita Chavarria.  He married Rosa Martinez of Slaton in 1979 and recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His life was defined by generosity, hard work, and remarkable spirit.

Known for his selflessness, David put his loved ones before himself, always ensuring that they were cared for and supported. To his family and friends, he was the rock they could always rely on, offering his time and love freely. He loved cooking for everyone and always made sure that no one went without. 

He had an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age working with his father, brothers, uncles, and cousins.  He loved working with his hand and was a true craftsman that took pride in his work. He worked in construction and the maintenance industry for 40 years.  His strong work ethic and commitment to teaching others left an enduring impact on everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.

David was devoted to loving and serving his family and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His wife, children, grandchildren, and family were the light of his life. His memory will be cherished by those who knew him and felt the warmth of his generous heart. David will be missed beyond words, but his spirit lives on in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy of kindness and craftmanship he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose, and his brother, Gonzalo Chavarria.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa; his daughter, Amanda Lugo and her husband, Chris of Washington, D. C.; his son, Jacob Chavarria and his wife, Rachel of Midland; his mother, Margarita Chavarria of Slaton; his sisters, Helen Corrales of Burleson and Sandra Durazo of Arlington; his brothers, Eddie Chavarria and his wife, Cecelia of Midland and Daniel Chavarria of Slaton; his grandchildren, Zoe and Sadie Lugo; and his nieces and nephews.
