Dawn Holden, 54, of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Englunds Funeral Chapel in Slaton. Interment will follow at Green Memorial Park in Wilson. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service.
Dawn was born on March 22, 1968, in Irving Texas. She attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Elementary School, Colleyville Middle School and graduated in 1986 from Grapevine High School. She attended Texas Tech University briefly but decided to pursue her degree in Journalism at North Texas State University, where she graduated.
After several food service jobs, she found her dream job becoming Special Events Editor at the Ft. Worth Star Telegram for approximately 9 years.
Dawn’s biggest passions in life revolved around family and holidays. In fact, she had decorations in storage for every holiday imaginable and would enjoy decorating her apartment for each season. She was also the “custodian of the albums” for the Wuensche Family Reunion for many years and would meticulously choose and caption photos for inclusion.
She was passionate about dogs and especially Boxers, having had two in her lifetime. She loved Fabio and Quigley dearly. Even with some health issues in recent years she volunteered at the Lubbock Animal Shelter and took great pride in those efforts.
Health struggles persisted until the Good Lord called her home on September 10, 2022. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Douglas Holden and Francis nee Wuensche. She is survived by two siblings Derek Holden (Karen) and Jill Holden (Rebecca Dunlap), also survived by two cousins who lived with her family growing up, Rachael White Butler (Jimm) and Melinda White Mitchell (Darin) as well as many extended family members and friends.
If anyone would like to do so, donations can be made to your local animal shelter or www.lonestarboxerrescue.com.
