Don Basinger Obituary

Don A. Basinger, 76, of Slaton, passed away September 27, 2019.

Funeral Services will be Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the First Baptist Church, Slaton. Interment will be in Southland’s Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Don was born October 25, 1942 in Slaton, TX to Alfred Basinger and Dona Bell Basinger. He graduated from Southland High School in 1961. Don married Donna Ruth Henderson on January 26, 1962 in Southland. They moved to their current residence in Slaton in 1976.

Don was a cotton farmer, farming until 1997. He and Donna started and operated D&D Trucking, retiring in 2009.

Don is survived by his wife Donna, his daughters Sherra (Jerry) Buxkemper of Buffalo Springs, Texas, and Robin (Stephen) Jamison of Lorena, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Craig Cearley, Christopher Cearley, Kassie Fleming, Macie Simpson, Garrison Jamison, Camden Jamison and Carrie Jo Anderson; and 9 great-grandchildren;

The family suggest memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, and Slaton’s Senior Citizen “Meals on Wheels”.
