Doyce Waylan Field, 68, of Slaton, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025.


Viewing will be from 2-6pm on Thursday, followed by a visitation at 6:00 pm. Funeral  Services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.


Doyce was born on February 5, 1957 in Slaton to W. A. and Loma Mae Field. He married Kathy Norwood on January 8, 1976 in Slaton. He went to work for the City Water Department in 1976. Early on he quit for about four years, but he came back, making his total time with the city a total of 40 years, lastly as Public Works Director.


He loved playing his guitar, fishing, camping, playing golf and traveling.


He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Dana Naomi Field, and his sister, Donna Forson.


Doyce is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son, Waylan Field of Slaton; his sister, Mancy Prentice of San Angelo; his sisters-in-law, Phillis Linder of Slaton, Teresa Hill and her husband Sam of Springtown, Tamey Fleischhauer and her husband, Alan of Lubbock, and Becky Santellana of Slaton; and one grandchild.
