Edwin “Butch” McClendon, Jr. 65, of Buffalo Springs, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

Viewing will be 3:30-6;30 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Englunds Funeral Service. With seating limited to 30-40 people, due to social distancing and seating on every other pew, funeral services will 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29 at Englunds Funeral Chapel in Slaton. The service is intended for immediate family and close friends. Masks are required at the funeral home. Services will be live streamed on Englunds Funeral Service Facebook page. A private graveside will be held at a later date.

Butch was born on October 26, 1955 in Dallas to Edwin Dawson and Lucille Patricia McClendon.  He graduated from South Garland High School in 1974 and attended Sam Houston State University.  He also graduated from the NADA Dealer Academy.  His family owned a family dealership in Garland, Lone Star Dodge, and has served in various capacities in other dealerships.  He married Jennifer McClendon on March 2, 1991 and they were remarried on June 24, 2004.  Butch had been employed at Gene Messer Toyota for the past 14 years. Butch and Jennifer have 2 children, Dawson Keith McClendon and Sarah Ann McClendon.  They were the apple of his eye and he loved taking care of them and being involved in their lives.  Butch was a member of Buffalo Springs Community Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, boating, collecting clocks, playing chess, spending time with his family and friends, football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, traveling and mostly he loved helping others. 

He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Butch is survived by his wife; his children, Dawson McClendon and Sarah McClendon, both of Lubbock; his sister, Jan Rickard and her husband, Roger of Garland; and extended family members.
