Elizabeth Minor Obituary

Elizabeth Blair Minor, 68, of Eastland, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. There will be no viewing or visitation.  Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Liz was born May 19, 1954, in Slaton, Texas. Her parents, James and Josette, met and fell in love in Marseille, France, during WWII. Upon returning to the states, they settled in Slaton then moved to Lubbock to raise 11 children. Liz was sibling #7. She attended Christ the King Catholic School and Coronado High School. On April 30, 1995, Liz married her husband of 27 years, Cliff Minor. Together they blended a beautiful family.

Mom, Grammy, Liz, Lizard! No matter what she was called, Liz was known by everyone for her bright smile and genuine love for others. She spent hundreds of hours chatting on the phone with her brothers, sisters, and cousins celebrating everyone’s accomplishments and giving the best advice. She always saw the good in everyone and would treat you how she would want to be treated. She was incredibly genuine and intentional with the love she gave. She was the best mother, incredible grammy, and amazing friend and sister. To know Liz was to love her.

Liz loved crafts. Give her tools, and she could build it. A Murphy bed, a desk...you name it! Liz also loved to bake. If there was a bake sale anywhere in town, you better believe she would be baking yummy treats for it. She loved to nurture and make it all better for those who needed her. Most of all, Liz LOVED her grandkids! She was so incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Liz and her daughter, Mandi, had an unimaginable bond and great love for each other.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents James and Josette; six siblings: James Patrick, Regina, Yvonne, JoAnn, Claude, and Chantal; her infant daughter, Lisa Lorraine; and bonus son, Daniel Pete.

She is survived by husband, Cliff Minor; daughter, Mandi Higgins (John); brothers, Jean Blair and Paul Blair; sisters, Marie Respondek and Kathleen Conger; bonus daughters, Sheila Alcazar (Robert), JaLynn McDowell (Chris), and April Lam; nine grandchildren: Colton, Grant, Brendan, BreAhna, Brady, Clara, Henry, Becky, and Alexis; many nieces and nephews; and friends that she treated like family. Her memory is cherished by many.

Thank you to the doctors that have taken care of Liz over the years, the amazing nurses at Hendrick Medical Center, and the compassionate nurses and aides at Hendrick Hospice Center
