Elsford “Ebb” Stricklin, 95, of Slaton, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021.
A private family graveside service will be Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Ebb was born September 16, 1926 in Henderson County to Aud and Willie Mae Stricklin. He was raised in Canton and attended school in Cream Level. His family later moved to Abernathy where he attended high school before being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. Ebb married Darlene McCullough on August 25, 1947 in Lubbock. They moved to Slaton in 1950 where he began his career as a master plumber and home builder while raising five children.
Ebb was a gentle man with a servant heart who mentored many young men while coaching youth baseball teams. He was also an avid hunter in his younger days alongside his hunting dog, Kate. He loved history and after retiring spent many hours reading, gardening, watching football and keeping up with current events. However, he will be remembered best for his love and his heart for his family.
Ebb is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Elsford Dale; his son, Claude; two brothers and three sisters.
Ebb is survived by his wife Darlene of Slaton; his daughters, Donna Stricklin of Slaton, Gwenda Hurley and her husband, Greg of Lubbock and Gretta Kitten and her husband, Floyd of Blackwell; his son Geron and his wife, Carla of Slaton; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
