Epifania Madrid Ariaz, 90, of Slaton, passed away Monday November 29, 2021.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm, Friday, December 3, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. At the family’s request, please wear a mask when attending all services.
Known by all as Fannie, Epifania was born January 6, 1931 in Nixon, TX. to Eufemio and Jesusa Madrid. She lived in the Slaton area for more than 50 years. Epifania retired from Slaton ISD as a custodian after 8 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for 50 years and was a Guadalupana. She was known as the town seamstress. She loved gardening and growing her flowers.
Epifania is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aurelio “Joe” Ariaz; her sons, Julian and Noel Lee Ledesma, her daughter-in-law Laura Ledesma; one child; and four infants.
Epifania is survived by her daughter, Rachel Garnica and her husband, Paul of Memphis, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Linda Ledesma of Slaton; her sons, Ismael Ledesma and his wife, Mary Helen of Detroit, Michigan, Ike Ledesma and his wife, Yvonne of El Paso; and Simitrio Ledesma of Slaton; her brothers, Regino Madrid and his wife, Lena of Houston, Eddie Madrid and his wife, Sally of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Raymond Madrid and his wife, Maria of Chicago, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
