Eva Mae Keck Obituary
Eva Keck was born December 16th,1937 in Lockett TX and passed away peacefully in her home in Slaton, surrounded by her loving family.
Eva had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved quilting, fishing, collecting antiques—especially frogs—and spending time admiring flowers and plants in the garden. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, bowling, and occasionally trying her luck with slot machines or the horses.
Eva will be remembered for her generous heart and unwavering strength. She taught those around her to love fiercely and give freely. If someone came to her with a problem, she always found a way to “figure it out.” Honest, resilient, and strong-willed, Eva embodied grit and perseverance, reminding her family that even when you fail, you get up the next day and keep going.
Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, who gave her purpose, laughter, and a reason to keep living each day. Her love for them was endless and unconditional.
Eva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Keck of 41 years, and her long-time friend and companion, Charlie Kahlich.
She is survived by her children: Daughter Susie Keck of Slaton, son Ben Keck and his wife Jenifer Hudman, along with their children Colton Keck, Rachael Roberts, and Reese Roberts, daughter Amy Matlock and her husband Roy Matlock, with their children Jayci and Kyler, of McKinney, Cody and Chelsie Matlock of Hutto.
Viewing will be Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 2:00-5:00 pm, followed by a visitation from 5:00-6:00 pm at Englunds Chapel in Slaton. A service to celebrate Eva’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5th at Englunds Chapel. Eva’s love, wisdom, and strength will live on in all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is finally home again.
