Fonda Bell Ostrander, 96, of Slaton, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am-11:00 am Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Englunds Chapel followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Fonda was born in period typical dugout type home on June 1, 1929 in Sudan. She attended school in Sudan. She grew up working on the family farm that included working on windmills and picking cotton. She married Roy Ostrander on March 2, 1946 in Earth, Texas. Fonda enjoyed working in her yard and loved dressing up. She was the family barber and a great caretaker and “doctor” to her children and grandchildren. She would always mop their throats with merthiolate for a quick cure.  Most importantly, Fonda was a Christian woman. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Bessie Fulcher; her husband Roy Ostrander; her sons, Benny and Johnny Ostrander; her sisters, Moveline Smith, Eber McCarty, Maudie Walker, Bobbie Bownds, Cora Richardson and Reba Matthews; her brothers, Pete, Pat, Ricky, and Von Fulcher; and two great-grandchildren.

Fonda is survived by her daughters, Janet Roys and her husband, Richard and Shonda Holt and her husband, Pat both of Lubbock; her brother Mike Fulcher, and his wife Kara of Lorenzo; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
