Guadalupe Garza, 84, of Slaton, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm Friday, February 2, 2024, at Englunds Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Guadalupe was born on October 29, 1939, in San Marcos, to Prisco and Nicolasa Parra. She married Pat Garza on November 23, 1957, in Lubbock. She worked as a Water Tech for the City of Lubbock and retired after 25 years in 2005. As an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Slaton, she was also a member of the Guadalupanas and the Cursillistas. She loved football, sports cars, music and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Doris Rendon, Gloria Coleman, and Helen Escobedo; and her brothers, Robert Parra, Prisco Parra, Jr. and later Prisco Parra Jr.
Guadalupe is survived by her daughter, Annette Garza and her husband, Robert Davila of Glenn Heights; her son, David Garza of Slaton; her sisters, Nancy Flores and her husband, Jimmy of Slaton, and Janie Parra of Slaton; her brother, Richard Parra of Lubbock; her grandchildren. Dr. Esteban Davila, Dr. Micha Davila, Ph.D. and husband, Justin Choi, David Garza, and Chris Garza and 4 great grandchildren.
