Hazel Ray Obituary

Hazel Ray, 94, of Lubbock, as of June 2, 2024, is beginning the last verse of her favorite song, Amazing Grace.

Visitation will be 10:30 Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Englunds in Slaton, followed by a Graveside Service at 11:30 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.  Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Hazel was born on May 11, 1930, in Tuskahoma, OK. to Prior and Jirlie Adams. She was raised in Sardis, OK. and moved to Slaton with her brother when she was in her 20s. She met Tiny Ray, and they were married six months later.  She was a proud homemaker and enjoyed cooking and playing dominoes and the game Farkle. Hazel was a long-time member of Faith Temple and if the doors were open, she was there with her family. Heaven sparkles brighter now.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Thelma Fuller, Lovell Jewell and Stella Stogsdill; and her brother, Melvin Adams.

Hazel is survived by her daughters, Freida Edwards and her husband, Tracy of Lubbock, Darlene Givens of Ruidoso; her son, David Ray and his wife, Sherrie of Columbus; Carlene Shaw of Lubbock; her sister-in law, Rose Adams of Ft. Worth; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Crown Point Health Suites and Hospice of the South Plains for the care and support given to Hazel.
