Hobert Artie Limmer Obituary
Hobert Artie Limmer, age 90, entered eternal rest on February 28, 2026.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
He was born on November 10, 1935, to Elsie and Malcom Limmer, and joined his two sisters Joyce and Bonnie. Hobert graduated from Slaton High school in 1955. Soon after, he married Veletta Polk and had two sons Artie and Craig of Lubbock. After his wife Veletta passed in 1995, he married Sharon Swanner in 2001 and enjoyed 25 years together. He was a member of the Slaton Methodist Church.
“Pop” worked various jobs in Slaton until he found his calling as a Conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked for 42 years. Pop was a quiet but solid man - hardworking, and proficient at handy work, wood construction, gardening, and was a very capable shade tree mechanic. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, and dancing to country music. Pop spent his retirement years perfecting his wood working skills and created and completed several pieces that are enjoyed by many family members.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, sister, Bonnie, two sons, Artie (Beverly) and Craig (Margie), and three stepchildren, Jeanne Terry (Alan), Jim Swanner (Gina), and Stuart Swanner (Lynette), that he considered his own, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
An old-timer once said about Pop, “Hobert doesn’t say much, but when he does say something, it is best to pay attention, because he is probably right on point.” Pop will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A private family service is planned.
