Ignacia Garcia, 95, of Slaton, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022.
Viewing will be 11:00 am-6:00 pm Monday, October 10, 2022 at Englunds, followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Ignacia was born November 22, 1926 in Conroe to Raul and Maria Lopez. She and Daniel Garcia were married in Wilson by the Justice of the Peace and then had their wedding ceremony at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Slaton. She worked at Mercy Hospital, the Villa Inn, and later in agriculture before going to work at Texas Tech in 1972. She retired in 1991. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe where she was a Guadalupana, helped with meal preparation, and assisted in fund raising.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Primativo and Gilberto Garcia; her sisters, Frances Flores and Mary Becerra; and her brothers, Eddie and Roy Lopez.
Ignacia is survived by her son, Jr. Garcia of Lubbock; her sisters, Janie Aguilar and Isabelle Diaz of Chicago and Margarita Perez of Lubbock; her brother, Alex Acosta of Lubbock; and her nieces, Rosario Gutierrez of Slaton, Martina Amaya, Gloria Garcia and Esmeralda Garcia, all of Indio, CA.
