Ipolito Paul Garza, 70, of Slaton, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe of Slaton. Arrangements were made by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Paul was born on August 24, 1954 in Elbridge Township, Michigan to Ramon and Juana Garza. He grew up in Michigan and also in Southland, as his family traveled to this area as migrant workers. He met Mary Ellen Flores in the first grade, and they became best friends. Paul joined the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam. When he returned, they were married on July 4, 1975. Paul worked as heavy equipment mechanic and traveled all over the U. S., to go wherever his skills were needed.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his brother, Joe Garza.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; his sons, Paul Garza Jr. (Hannah), of Lubbock, and  Eric Garza (Sara), of Hale Center; his daughter, Angela Garza (Jeremy) of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Zackery (Ashlee),  Isaiah, Jakob, and Marie; his brothers, Antonio, Ramon Jr, Ruben, and Peter; and his sisters, Maria Garza, Irene Gonzales, Esperanza Medrano, Elda Flores, and Lucinda Garza.
