Isabel Carreon Obituary

Isabel “Chavela” Carreon of Slaton, TX, peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2025.

Rosary will be held at Englunds Chapel on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 6:00 pm. Memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Slaton, TX, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11:00 am. Cremation arrangements are made through Englunds Funeral Service.

She was born on September 10, 1962, in Crosbyton, TX, to Felix A. Carreon and Teresa Moreno.  She was an employee of UMC for over 30 years, working in many facets of the healthcare system, including medical records, transcription, birth certificates, and many more. She greatly enjoyed helping others and made countless friends and acquaintances through the many opportunities these positions afforded her. She loved working in her yard, crocheting, and dancing. She lit up every room she entered with her smile and larger-than-life personality. A true one-of-a-kind soul who never met a stranger. She loved her family, her friends, and GOD.

She will always be loved, always missed, never forgotten. Our mother said God had her room ready, and she was so ready to see it. We love you, Mom. The family would like to express its deepest and sincerest appreciation for all those who loved, prayed, and helped us in so many ways during this most difficult time, Words could never suffice. Thank you. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

She is survived by her mother Teresa, her siblings Felix Jr. and wife JoAnn of Vernon, TX, Marcus and his wife Jeanne of Corpus Christi, TX, Santos and wife Sofia of Corpus Christi, TX, Irma Davis and husband Shawn of Fort Worth, TX, and Irene Carreon of Lubbock, TX.  Her daughters Nicole Sadler and husband John Mark of Slaton, Yvonne Ashley and husband Clay of Lubbock, TX, and Bianca Martinez and husband Dustin of Florence, SC, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, with 2 more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her father.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to UMC Hospice.
