Jaime Delgado Gatica, 64, of Slaton went to see the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Viewing will be 11:00am-6:00pm Friday, September 9, 2022, followed by a rosary service at 6:00 pm at Englunds. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Jaime was born on November 30, 1957 in Slaton, TX. He attended Slaton schools and was a graduate of Slaton High School. In his youth, he enjoyed playing softball and was a member of the Slaton Bears. He spent many years working as a security guard. He met Dorothy Simental, the woman he would spend his life with, in 1998 and created a family with her four children, Rachael, Jasmine, Jerry and Jorge. They would go on to have two children together, Adriana and James. He was a man of few words, but he meant a lot to both his family and the people in his neighborhood. He enjoyed gambling, working in the yard and spending time with his dog, Bruno.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Simental (Slaton); his sons, Jorge Simental (Slaton), Jerry Simental (Slaton), James Gatica Jr. (Slaton); his daughters, Jasmine Simental (Slaton), and Adriana Gatica (Slaton); his brothers, Joe (Rey) Gatica and wife, Vianey (Slaton), John Gatica and wife, Irma (Slaton); his sister, Mary Ann Valdez and husband, Jr. (Slaton); 5 nieces; 3 nephews; 4 great-nieces; and 7 great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Rachael DeLeon; his father, Pedro Gatica; his mother; Pauline Gatica; his brother, Jesse Gatica; and his sister, Teresa Hernandez, all of Slaton.
