Jake Wendel Obituary

Jake Wendel, 89, of Slaton, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021.


Viewing will be 11:00-5:00 Monday at the funeral home.  No visitation or rosary. A Celebration of Jake’s life will at 10:30 am Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.  Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.


Jake Wendel was born on April 12, 1932 in Slaton to Leo and Ida Wendel. He married Patsy Jo Mosely at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Lubbock on May 29, 1952 and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage.  He owned and operated Wendel’s TV and Appliance in Slaton before purchasing Radio Lab in Lubbock.  He loved to travel and did so all over the world. He was very active in a travel group for many years.


He is preceded in death by parents; his wife; and his son, William Alan Wendel.


Jake is survived by his daughters, Lynne Stewart and her husband, Cliff of Lubbock, Dana Weber and her husband, Jake of Plano, and Donna Edwards and her husband, Eric of Flower Mound; his brother, A. J. Wendel of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
