James “Jim” Tolbert Spencer passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 93 in Lubbock, Texas.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
James was born on June 1, 1932, in Waco, Texas, to Ambrose and Doris Spencer. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1951. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1955. He married the love of his life Lela Mae Gilbert on October 9, 1959.
He worked as an accountant for Clark Equipment Company, Wylie Manufacturing and NTS Communications until retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity and Committee Member Troop 528 Boy Scouts of America. Jim loved woodworking, genealogy and anything western.
He is survived by his son Robert Spencer of Sheffield, Texas; daughter Leslie Linker and her husband Tony of Slaton, Texas. Three granddaughters Lindsey Loveless and her husband Zane; Maegan Janes and her husband Matt; Kelsey Jordan and her husband Preston.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Lela.
