Jane Carole Bednarz (Ehler), 81, of Slaton passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. Jane passed away leaving a legacy of warmth, friendship, and deep devotion to her family and community.

Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Englunds Chapel, followed by visitation from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, June 11, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.

Jane was born in Slaton on April 24, 1945 to Edgar and Ann Ehler. She grew up on the family farm with her 3 brothers and sister. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the eighth grade and later graduated from Cooper High School. She met the love of her life, Bill, in high school and they married on May 15, 1964. They made their life together farming and raised two daughters, Angie and Christi. They shared 51 years together until Bill’s passing in 2015.

Jane began her professional journey working at Citizens Bank in Slaton. She then chose to dedicate her time to her family, becoming a stay at home mother to raise her beloved daughters. When her daughters entered elementary school, Jane returned to the workforce as secretary at Cooper Middle School. She later transferred to the schools business office, where she worked until retirement.

A lifelong devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jane lived her faith through service and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America. One of Jane’s greatest joys were her four granddaughters and great grandchildren.

She was exceptionally social and possessed a rare gift for making friends wherever she went. She truly loved people, and her absolute favorite pastime was gathering with family and friends for a party, sharing laughs, and socializing. Her bright presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Angie (Roger) Raff of Lubbock and Christi (Jerry) DeFeo of Garland; her grandchildren, Lindsey Raff of Amarillo, Bethany (Will) Gill of Mustang, Oklahoma, Skylar (John Charles) Terry of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Sydney DeFeo (fiancé, Bennett Schackmuth) of Lubbock; her great grandchildren, Liam and Riggs Gill and Ellis Jane Terry due in August; her siblings, David (Fran) Ehler of Lubbock, Shirley ( Steve) Tucker of Lubbock, Mike (Suzanne) Ehler of Lubbock and Kenneth (Sandra) Ehler of Lubbock; brother in law, Eugene (Shirley) Bednarz of Slaton; sister in law Jeanette (Tony) Hoover of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
