Jean Basinger

Jean Basinger, 89, of Kent County, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

Private services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Jean was born on November 26, 1933 in Post to John Tom and Byrdie Nelle Sims.   She married J. Martin Basinger on March 30, 1951 at the Sims Ranch in Post.  She loved to cook and was known far and wide for her rolls and pies.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jean is survived by her husband, J. Martin Basinger of Kent Co.; her daughter, Laura Lynn Boyd and her husband, Tommy of Lubbock; her sons, J. Ray Basinger of Wickenburg, AZ and John T. Basinger and his wife, Kathy of Slaton; her sister, Zoe Ham and her husband, Jack of Garza Co.; her granddaughter, Amy Jean Coleman and her husband, Michael of Smiths Station, AL.; and her great-grandchildren, Byrdie Ella Coleman and Connor Coleman.

The family suggests memorials be made to the National Ranching Heritage Center, 3121 4th Street, Lubbock, TX 79409-3200.
