Jimmie Turner Obituary

Jimmie Boyd Turner, 71, of Slaton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, December 20, 2021 at Englunds in Slaton.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Mighty Oak Assembly of God (14th & Jean St.), officiated by Pastor Terry Reeves. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.  Arrangements by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Jimmie was born September 8,1950 to Mike Walker and Naomi (Johnston) Boyd in Slaton where she remained a lifelong resident.  Jimmie was a hard worker.  She retired from Xcel Energy (formerly Southwestern Public Service) and then worked as a receptionist for Dr. James Terry Gage.  She graduated from Slaton High School and grew up attending the Slaton Church of God.  Jimmie loved the Lord with all her heart and enjoyed serving her church family.  It was at church where she met the love of her life, Billy “Bill” Turner.  They were married on August 5, 1989 in Slaton and had 25 years together of love and laughter as well as a shared passion for music and travel.  Jimmie had a beautiful alto voice and was a member of several quartets over the years.  She deeply loved her family and served them with her prayers and generous heart.

Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her older sister, Cerena “Ann” Boyd.

She is survived by her 2 brothers, Butch Boyd (Holly) and Danny Boyd (Kathy); 2 sisters, Iris Culpepper (Lynn) and Dana Boyd; step-grandson, Steve Lyonnais, Jr. (Kelly), step-granddaughter, Leslie Barnes; step-great-grandson, Steven Lyonnais III; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as an extended family and many friends.  She will also be very missed by her constant four-legged companion, Patches.

The family wishes to extend their immense gratitude to Jimmie’s caregiver, Jo Ray and also to her neighbors, Dustin and Amanda Brown and their girls for their sweet attentions and many acts of kindness.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Slaton Meals on Wheels.
