Jimmy Lancaster, 77, of Lubbock, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022.
Viewing will be 11:00 am-6:00 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Englunds. Visitation will follow from 6:00 pm–7:00 pm at Englunds. Graveside Services will be 10:30 am Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Resthaven Cemetery in Southland, Tx. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Jimmy was born in Slaton on July 20, 1944, to Earl and Ida (Sis) Lancaster. He grew up on a farm in the Southland Community and graduated from Southland High School in May of 1962. Jimmy joined the Army in 1962 and was discharged after two years of service and returned to Southland to help with the farm for two years. After that, he worked as an ironworker before hiring out with Santa Fe Railroad in Fort Worth in April of 1968. He worked for the Railroad in Fort Worth, Amarillo, and Slaton for 36 years before retiring in August of 2004. During retirement, Jimmy enjoyed playing golf with his friends and had a place at Lake Alan Henry where he enjoyed doing a little fishing. Jimmy married his wife Jane in Lubbock on February 28, 1992.
He is preceded in death by his father, Earl; mother, Sis; brothers, Bill and Jack; and sister, Sue.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Jane of Lubbock,; his son, Wade and wife, Abby of Castle Rock, Colorado; his daughter, Lauri Davis of Slaton; and his three grandchildren, Peyton and Rylan Lancaster and Leighton Davis of Slaton.
Jimmy loved dogs and had rescued several over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his memory to an animal rescue or related organization of your choice.
